This commendable accomplishment was announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who emphasized the improvement in the criminal justice administration.
Out of the total cases prosecuted, 17,676 have been conclusively dispensed with, while 11,376 cases are still undergoing trial. Currently, there are 51 cases under appeal at the respective appellate courts.
Notably, 16,200 cases have resulted in the conviction of suspects, sending a strong message to criminals that they will face the consequences of their actions.
Adejobi warned criminals to cease their unlawful activities, as the long arm of the law will ultimately bring them to justice.
Furthermore, 1,476 individuals have been discharged at the discretion of the jury, although some of these cases have been appealed by the Police to ensure justice prevails.
This remarkable achievement is attributed to the dedicated efforts and diligence of investigative officers and legal teams working in harmony under the focused leadership of the 22nd indigenous Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, who is committed to swiftly and fairly bringing perpetrators of crime to justice.
