On Thursday, Ebonyi State’s activities were suspended as citizens observed the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) call to remain at home in observance of Biafra Day, which falls on May 30.

It was learned that establishments such as marketplaces, restaurants, retail centres, and banks, offices, and schools were all locked.

Motor parks were closed as well, so there weren’t many cars on the road.

In the city centre, there were a few motorcyclists who rode for business.

The large number of security guards driving about in convoys with machine guns may have given them the confidence to come out.

The state’s All Progressives Congress, or APC, has postponed its delegates congress, which was originally supposed to take place today throughout the state.

It is thought that the shift may be related to the sit-at-home directive, even though the party stated in a statement that the postponement was necessary to allow for candidate screening.

The announcement, which was signed by party chairman Stanley Emegha, stated that the “5-Man Delegates Congress and Councillorship Primary Elections of the party will now hold on Friday, May 31, 2024, in the 13 LGAs across the state.”
