Adedayo Olawole, 29, was found guilty of Chukwudi Joseph’s murder and sentenced to death by hanging by an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti.

In addition, Olawole received a seven-year prison sentence for his role in the deceased person’s murderous conspiracy.

On Wednesday, he was charged with two offences that involved murder and conspiracy.

That Adedayo Olawole and others who are now at large at Eporo in Emure, Ekiti, did conspire to murder one Chukwudi Joseph is the charge. The offences violate Sections 244 and 243 of the Nigerian state of Ekiti’s 2021 Criminal Law.

Joseph was beaten and stabbed in the left side of his chest by the defendant and his gang, according to a cousin of the deceased who saw the incident and testified against Olawole.

Ibironke Odetola, the prosecution, brought six witnesses and presented the defendant’s declarations, the deceased’s photos, and other supporting documentation as exhibits.

According to Judge Jubril Aladejana, the fact that the victim was attacked with boards before being stabbed indicated that the attackers wanted to kill him or cause him great physical injury.

According to Judge Aladejana, the prosecution has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant and several people in the public plotted to perpetrate the murderous crime.
