Woman Appears in Court for Allegedly Assaulting Police Officers

Yinka Afolabi, 30, was charged before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Tuesday for allegedly attacking police officers.

Afolabi is accused of conspiracy, assault, and behaviour likely to provoke a breach of peace. His residence was not disclosed.

But she entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.

The defendant committed the crime on May 27 at around 10.30 p.m. in the Elebu neighbourhood of Ibadan, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, who testified in court.

According to Balogun, Afolabi organised a group of people to attack the local police officers who were on duty.

The prosecution went on to say that the defendant refused to be taken into custody by law enforcement officials carrying out their official tasks.

According to him, the offences were under Oyo State’s 2000 Criminal Laws, Sections 516 and 249(d).

The defendant was granted N100,000 bond with two sureties in an amount equal to the bail amount by Magistrate Mrs. Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair.

She postponed the case’s hearing until June 6.
