Edo Queens have emerged as the champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), marking their first-ever achievement of this kind. The team, based in Benin, secured a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa Queens in their final match of the NWFL Super Six playoff, accumulating a total of 10 points from five matches. They triumphed in four games and suffered one defeat.
On the last day of the competition, Rivers Angels failed to defeat Heartland Queens, resulting in a 1-1 draw. This outcome allowed Moses Aduku’s team to secure their inaugural title at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Bayelsa State.

Edo Queens took the lead in the 29th minute through an impressive strike by Emem Essien. However, Bayelsa Queens managed to equalize just four minutes into the second half, thanks to Zainab Olopade’s goal.
With this victory, Edo Queens will represent Nigeria in the West African Football Union (WAFU) championship, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League in the following season.
