Reports from Dutch media indicated that American rapper Nicki Minaj was detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on suspicion of possessing soft drugs. The 41-year-old singer, who was scheduled to perform in Britain, shared images on social media of her being questioned by officials.

While police confirmed the detention of a 41-year-old American woman, they did not directly confirm that it was Nicki Minaj. A military police spokesman stated that the woman was suspected of attempting to export soft drugs to another country, without disclosing her identity.

According to the rapper’s post on social media, authorities allegedly found cannabis in her luggage, which she claimed belonged to her security personnel. She expressed frustration over the situation, mentioning that her security had informed officials about the ownership of the items.

Despite the popular belief that marijuana is legal in the Netherlands due to the presence of coffee shops selling cannabis, the consumption of small amounts of the drug remains technically illegal. However, law enforcement often exercises discretion as part of a longstanding tolerance policy.

The ongoing interrogation and investigation into the incident at the airport reflect the complexities surrounding drug possession and transportation laws, both in the Netherlands and internationally. The situation highlights the challenges faced by individuals traveling with controlled substances across borders.
