The Nigerian government has announced that Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who had escaped custody in Nigeria, has been located in Kenya.
A confidential source from the presidency confirmed this development, revealing that discussions between various law enforcement agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the International Criminal Police, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service, are underway to expedite Anjarwalla’s extradition.
The EFCC chairman, Ola Olukuyede, emphasized last month that the commission is collaborating with INTERPOL, as well as authorities from the US, UK, Northern Ireland, and Kenya, to ensure Anjarwalla’s return to Nigeria.

The EFCC had previously charged Binance Holdings Limited, Tigran Gambaryan, and Anjarwalla with five counts related to tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering.
Anjarwalla had escaped custody on March 22 and has been evading capture since then. It is worth noting that the Nigerian government has officially transferred the Binance case from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the EFCC.
The government’s crackdown on Binance has been ongoing due to its alleged involvement in manipulating the country’s foreign exchange market, with the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, revealing that over $26 billion had been funneled through Binance without any trace during the 293rd meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee in February.
