A gun battle between security forces and gunmen in Anambra resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals and injuries to others.

The clash occurred when the Anambra Joint Security Force conducted a raid on two camps belonging to the gunmen in Aguluezechukwu and Ogboji.

The security operatives seized various items, including locally made rocket launchers, charms, and police uniforms.

While the Anambra police spokesperson did not disclose the exact number of casualties, it is known that four gunmen and one police officer lost their lives during the shootout.

The police command in Awka stated that the search for the gunmen has now been expanded to include the Obofia Forest, Aguluezechukwu, and Ogboji areas.
