Residents of Abuja should expect appropriate security when the Abuja Light Rail system starts running, according to the Transport Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Mr. Ubokutom Nyah, Secretary of the Secretariat, provided the assurance on Wednesday following an inspection of the ongoing repair of the Abuja metro rail line project.

During a visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Ltd. (CCECC), which is in charge of the rehabilitation project, made a commitment to finish the Abuja Rail Mass Transit (ARMT) system by May 2024.

According to Nyah, the secretariat’s objective of security, affordability, and flexibility was reflected in the supply of security.

“We anticipate that the nine-month completion target will be met sooner. A major surprise and a wonderful time are in store for the people of the FCT.

“We’ve covered more than 60% of the rail tracks, and I can say with confidence that the vandalised sections of the rails have been properly finished.

The communication lines are reportedly already on the port and will shortly be brought in, and the cleaning is currently underway.
