The beginning of Ramadan fasting has been declared by Mohammed Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto and President of the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

In accordance with Beliefs, the crescent signalling the start of Ramadan has been seen.

The Sultan stated that Muslims in the nation should begin fasting on March 23 in a broadcast on NTA on Wednesday night.
