Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, declared on Saturday in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, that if elected, he will end corruption.
At a gathering with traditional leaders in Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area, south of Kaduna State, Obi made the commitment.
According to him, corruption has been keeping Nigeria from reaching its full potential, which is why it must be eradicated.
“With your help, I will combat corruption and stop all areas where money is lost.”
“We’ll cease the government’s wasteful spending and start saving for our nation’s reconstruction.”
“The opposition claims that I am frugal, but neither I nor my running mate have ever been accused of corruption,” he said.
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to combating poverty as a means of lowering crime.
“We must begin lifting our people out of poverty because the more poverty is eradicated, the more crime is eradicated,” he declared.
The presidential hopeful promised to collaborate with traditional leaders to address Nigeria’s security issues.
Ufuwai Bonet, the Chief of Kagoro, praised Obi for associating with the people of Southern Kaduna in his words.
He appealed to God for leaders who would deal with Nigeria’s many problems.
