Matawalle reports 169 “phantom doctors” in Zamfara.
About 169 “ghost doctors” in Zamfara State are getting monthly salaries and benefits, according to Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
In Maradun Town, in the Maradun Local Government Area of the State, the governor revealed this to reporters while they were at his country residence. He claimed that the ghost physicians were to blame for the delay in paying the salaries and benefits of the health workers.
He claimed that his administration had been meeting with the state’s labour leaders in order to identify and remove any fraudulent medical professionals.
Following the adoption of the N30,000 minimum salary, he promised that his administration had no plans to fire any real state employees.
The governor responded to questions from reporters on Friday by stating that his government and the leaders of the Labour Party had been meeting frequently to discuss productivity.
He asserts that he anticipates that the state’s civil servants will constantly defend their pay and benefits.
He continued, “I was once a civil servant, and I understand the suffering if my salary and allowances were not paid.”
He continued by saying that a significant portion of the state’s meagre monthly allocation from the federation account went toward paying enormous sums of money to civil officials in the form of wages and benefits.
However, the Governor praised the state’s labour leaders for their mature and professional approach to the N30,000 minimum wage debate, noting that since his appointment as governor in 2019, there has been no hostility between the government and organised labour.
