Former Oyo State Governor Rashidi Ladoja dismisses Bisi Akande’s claims, stating he never withdrew the case related to the late Bola Ige’s murder.
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, has denied claims made by Chief Bisi Akande, the former Osun State Governor, concerning the assassination of Chief Bola Ige, who was previously Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
In an interview at his Ondo Street home in Ibadan, Ladoja accused Akande of making false statements and asserted confidently, “Chief Akande lied against me.”
Akande recently hinted that Ladoja might have vital information regarding the unsolved murder of Bola Ige. However, Ladoja rejected this suggestion and urged Akande to refrain from making unfounded accusations.
Ladoja stated, “Chief Bola Ige was assassinated on December 23, 2001. I assumed the role of governor on May 29, 2003, which was a full eighteen months prior to the start of my term.”
“I didn’t withdraw the case, and my government hasn’t withdrawn any cases either.”
“The Supreme Court even took up the prosecution of the case. Chief Akande, who is older and has a history of dishonesty, falsely accused me once again. Many people claim he lies often; even Baba Adebanjo mentioned his untruthfulness in his book.”
We are all profoundly saddened by Ige’s passing and deeply troubled by the circumstances surrounding his murder. Chief Bola Ige was very close to me during his lifetime.
