In the state’s Fage Local Government Area’s Malam Kato Market, the Police Command in Kano reported on Saturday that it had seized 820 cartons of suspected fake and expired pharmaceuticals.

The drugs were found in two warehouses at the market, according to a statement by the Command’s public relations officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano.

Included in his list of medications were 514 cartons of eemistxmin/emstifer syrup, 219 cartons of 5 mg Lisinopril tablets, 7 cartons of 5 mg amlodipine tablets, 87 cartons of 50 mg atenol, and 40 cartons, 3 cartons of Frusemide injection.

According to Kiyawa, a team of detectives sent to the scene by the state commissioner of police, Usaini Gumel, removed the pills and handed them over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Residents should constantly report suspicious people and goods to the police for immediate action, he urged.(NAN)
