Samira Makama and Muhammed Musa’s marriage of eight years was dissolved on Thursday by a Jos Central Area Court in Kasuwan Nama 1 due to Muhammed Musa’s incapacity to provide for his family.
In approving Makama’s plea, a panel of judges comprised of Malam Sadiq Adam and Mr Hyacinth Dolnanan stated that all efforts to bring the parties together had failed.
The petitioner and respondent were told to separate by the judges.
However, according to NAN, the court ordered that the respondent pay his children’s school tuition and maintain them every month.
The woman had already petitioned the court to break their union, claiming that her husband of the previous eight years had neglected to provide for her and their two children.
She testified before the court that her husband had first divorced her twice following Islamic customs and that he had also severed their marital ties.
She said she had come to the court to ask for the dissolution of her union with the respondent.
