During a clearing operation at bandits’ encampment in the Zamfara forest on Friday, Operation Forest Sanity troops killed eight terrorists and freed four captives.
The camps are claimed to be in the Dutse Uku woodland in the Lanke and Danmarke villages in the Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara, according to a statement from Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, director of defense media operations.
Danmadami claimed that while on the combat patrol, the forces engaged the terrorists in a firefight, killing eight of them while the rest fled for cover while suffering gunshot wounds.
After the firefight, he claimed, the forces used the general area to their advantage and freed four captives.
He claims that among other items found were six AK-47 rifles, 40 rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition, six AK-47 magazines, and 32 motorcycles.
