In Adamawa State, seven persons have been detained on suspicion of kidnapping.
The seven are alleged to have been terrorising regions in the villages of Girei, Tambo, and Borong in the local governments of Girei and Demsa.
The suspects were taken into custody on Friday, September 29, according to a news statement issued on Saturday by the Adamawa State Police Command, which made the arrest.
The suspects were disconnected on September 29, 2023, by Command agents stationed in the Girei Divisional authorities Headquarters working with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, according to the authorities.
The suspects were named in the statement as Kabiru Muhammad, 42; Ibrahim Audu, 17; Hassan Usman, 40; Musa Sani, 22; Bello Ibrahim, 35; Abdullahi Saidu, 17; and Muhammed Abdu, 40. The release was signed by the state police public relations officer, Suleiman Nguroje.
They are all Tambo, Girei LGA citizens.
“The suspects were tracked to their hiding places after kidnapping Koire Alhaji Ruwa, who lived at the same residence, and demanding a N10 million ransom.
It’s interesting to note that after being captured, the organised crime coordinator instantly confessed, telling his accomplices to unconditionally release the victim of the kidnapping to save him from the punishment for the crime he committed. The victim was immediately freed unharmed, according to the authorities.
