The US Defence Department released a statement on Sunday stating that five US service members lost their lives in a refuelling mishap during training that resulted in the aircraft carrying them crashing into the Mediterranean Sea.
European Command (EUROCOM) also verified the occurrence.
In a statement released on Sunday, the EUROCOM Public Affairs Department stated that a US military plane involved in training exercises in the eastern Mediterranean had an accident and went down on the evening of November 10.

The statement went on, “We will not release further information on the personnel involved at this time out of respect for the affected families.”
“Investigation into the training incident’s cause is ongoing.”
“Nevertheless, it is clear that the aircraft sortie was only for training purposes, and there are no signs of hostile activity,” the statement continued.
According to PlatinumPost, since the battle between Israel and Hamas broke out, US military activity in the Mediterranean region has significantly increased.
