5 people murdered in Benue village by gunmen

Gunmen believed to be herdsmen have reportedly killed at least five individuals during an assault on the Egwuma community in the Agatu Local Government Area of Benue, as per reliable sources cited by Obasanjonews.com.
A source from the community, who opted to remain anonymous for safety concerns, confirmed that the attackers were indeed herdsmen.
The source detailed that the herdsmen launched the attack on Sunday around 2 pm, targeting the community and resulting in the deaths of several villagers.

It was mentioned that local youths conducted a search in the surrounding bush and discovered the bodies of five deceased villagers.
Additionally, the source revealed that the youths have taken measures to protect the community against further intrusions by the assailants, and relevant security agencies have been notified.
At the time of the report, the assault on Egwuma was reported to be ongoing, with no signs of abating.
When reached for comment via phone, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anne, stated that she had not received any official briefing regarding the incident.
