Two Chinese citizens were abducted and five security personnel lost their lives in a recent assault on a mining facility situated at Zango City, which is found in the outskirts of Lokoja within Kogi State.
On Monday evening at approximately 5 p.m., a group of roughly 20 gunmen raided the location. They killed two mining staff members, three vigilante team members and abducted Chinese nationals in the process.
For approximately 45 minutes, the assault continued with intermittent gunfire emanating from a mountainous region situated at the rear of Al Azhar International School.

The perpetrators had substantial weaponry and sported beards; their actions instilled fear in nearby inhabitants which led to numerous individuals shuttering their businesses and abandoning their residences for protection.
An unidentified local hunter disclosed that he assisted in the removal of the corpses belonging to vigilantes who were identified as Abdulazeez, Tijani, and Yusuf.
Abdul, a resident of Zango and shop owner, voiced his apprehensions over the increasing violence and urged for improved security measures in the state.
Efforts made to reach out to the police, comprising of attempts to call and send messages across their Public Relations Officer William Anya proved futile.
