Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, has disputed the “purported” disappearance of 48 million barrels of crude oil.
Malami ruled out the prospect of oil sales without payment to the federation account on Thursday when testifying before the House ad hoc committee.
“Let me state for the record that the charges regarding the 48 million barrels are without merit for the benefit of Nigerians and the committee. The charge is unfounded. It’s devoid of substance and worth.
“The allegation in its own right is devoid of any reasonable ground pointing to a material suspicion cogent enough to invoke the constitutional oversight of the committee,” he claimed.
He also rejected the group that submitted the missing oil plea. Protect the World Organization (PWO) has no involvement in the probe, he said.
“I am here for open engagement for Nigerians to see what we are doing,” he declared.
The committee then decided that Malami would return for additional questioning.
