A total of 47 individuals have been apprehended by soldiers from 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna for their suspected involvement in damaging rail tracks.
The Nigerian Army Headquarters released a statement via its official X platform on Saturday, revealing that the operation took place on June 26, 2024, while conducting a routine patrol along Kakau Daji- Anguwan Ayaba.
The arrested suspects, who had already filled two trucks with the damaged rail tracks, claimed that they were working under the employment of an individual named Alhaji Babawo.
These suspects confessed that Alhaji Babawo, who is currently on the run, instructed them to load the vandalized rail tracks onto the trucks and then unload them in a nearby bush by the roadside.
During the process of profiling the suspects at 312 Artillery Regiment Kaduna, the Acting Commander of 1 Division Provost Group, Lt Col IY Rena, mentioned that the individuals were being assessed to determine the extent of their involvement in the preliminary investigation.
