43-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for attempted murder in Ekiti

Akinyemi Ojo has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti for attempted murder. The 43-year-old defendant was arraigned before Justice Blessing Ajileye on January 25, 2023, on a single count charge related to the attempt to murder.

According to the charge, Ojo attempted to murder David Faith on December 5, 2022, in Aramoko Ekiti.

The victim testified in court, recounting the incident where she was attacked with a machete by the defendant while she was on her way to her farm. She managed to escape and was later taken to the hospital by passersby.

The prosecutor presented evidence, including witness testimonies, statements, a cutlass, and pictures of the victim, while the defendant defended himself through his lawyer without calling any witnesses.

Justice Blessing Ajileye, in delivering the judgment, stated that the defendant’s actions could have resulted in the victim’s death and sentenced him to life imprisonment in accordance with Section 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
