During a raid on illegal drug dens in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) detained 34 individuals.
Kabir Tsakuwa, the agency’s FCT Commander, told newsmen in Abuja that while those identified as users were receiving counseling, some of the accused had already been charged.
He said the operation was necessary to tackle drug usage, particularly as Nigeria gets ready to transition to a new administration.
He continued by saying that on May 8 the command launched “Operation Tsaro” in order to close down drug dens and capture dealers in the FCT.
He stated: “Our operatives seized a variety of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, methamphetamine, tramadol, codeine, Rohypnol, and other psychotropic substances.”
Tsakuwa promised that the raid will continue with the goal of curbing criminal activity in the FCT and the flow of dangerous drugs.
Torabora, Dei-dei, Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 3, Banex, Garki Village, Area 1, Gwarinpa (Village, 3rd Avenue), Abattoir in Karu, Gwagwalada, Kabusa, and Kuchigoro IDP Camp are just a few of the drug hotspots that have been searched, according to him.
