Gafar Oyewole, 32, has been detained by the Western Nigeria Security Agency, also known as the Osun Amotekun Corps, for hijacking a ring-moulding machine from the Ifelodun community in Agunbelewo, Osogbo, Osun State.
In a statement released on Thursday, the commander of the security unit, retired Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, revealed that the perpetrator was apprehended after the Amotekun Osogbo Command received a distress call.
General Adewinmbi stated that the perpetrator’s actions were suspicious, and after receiving the distress signal, the operatives apprehended Gafar in the act.
“The suspect, a former inmate, confessed to engaging in the act for a very long time, and he had previously been incarcerated for the same act.
“During cross-examination, the suspect admitted to committing the crime and begged for forgiveness,” Adewinmbi stated.
The suspect will be turned over to law enforcement for questioning and prosecution.
