Fabian Udenyi, 30, made his appearance before an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court on Friday for allegedly earning N1.1 million through fraudulent means.
The defendant, whose home address was omitted, is in court facing two counts of theft and fraud that were brought against him by the police.
The defendant committed the offences at No. 10 Adesina Street, Idimu, Lagos, at some point in February, according to the prosecution, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan.
He claimed that the defendant, pretending to conduct business, had taken N1.1 million from the complainant, Mr. Saheed Balogun, and used it for his own purposes.
He said that the offences were against sections 287(1) and 314 of the 2015 Lagos Criminal Law.
The accused entered a not-guilty plea to the accusation.
Magistrate I. A. Ariyo granted him bail in the amount of N300,000 with two sureties in the same amount, with the condition that the sureties be in gainful employment and provide proof of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
It was postponed until September 4th.
