3 alleged kidnappers killed in Nasarawa

In Nasarawa State’s Lafia Local Government Area, three alleged kidnappers have been slain.

After engaging in a gunfight with Nasarawa State Police Command officers on Friday, the suspects were shot and killed.

Ezekiel Luka, a Taraba State resident who had been kidnapped less than 24 hours before, was freed during the gunfight.

In a statement on Friday, Ramhan Nansel, the state’s police public relations officer, revealed this.

According to Nansel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, police officers got information on Thursday that alleged kidnappers had blocked the Assakio-Sabon Gida Road in the Lafia East Development District.

“On April 13, 2023, information was obtained that suspected kidnappers stopped Assakio-Sabon Gida road in Lafia East Development Area of Lafia LGA and abducted one Ezekiel Luka’m’ of Taraba State,” the statement stated.

“Police officers assigned to the Assakio Division, under the direction of SP Ekoja Elaigu, initiated a manhunt for the kidnappers in response to the unsavoury occurrence.”

According to him, a second suspected kidnapper was apprehended together with a locally made revolver pistol and seven rounds of 6.72mm ammo.

The suspect was named by the police spokesman as Friday Orshio of Gidan Adamu in Assakio, Lafia East Development Area, Nasarawa State.

For his part, Maiyaki Baba, the commissioner of police, praised the officers for a job well done and asked them to keep up the pace and clear the state of criminals.
