In the capital of Niger State, Minna, specifically in the Barin-Sale area, a patricide was committed by the suspect.
On July 30, 2024, SP Wasiu Abiodun – the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command – released a statement outlining the specifics of the offense.
He stated that on July 29 around 10 am, Kpakungu Police Division was informed about the disappearance of a man named Abubakar Adawa who resided in Barkin-Sale locality at Minna. The individual mentioned was aged 65 years old.
The DPO-led police team paid a visit to the residence and summoned Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, along with his mother Aisha Abubakar for questioning,” he said.
He gave an explanation that the entire compound was extensively searched, and to everyone’s surprise, they found the severed body of the individual who had gone missing buried in a superficial grave inside the property.
According to the PRO of the police, it was revealed that during questioning, the son admitted his culpability in committing a brutal homicide against his deceased father. He cited intense animosity towards him as his motive for carrying out such an act.
According to him, he utilized a hoe for murdering and dismembering the victim prior to interring the remains in a shallow grave on the premises.
According to the police spokesperson, the initial investigation is still underway and soon enough, the suspect will be relocated to Minna’s State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough inquiry and prosecution.
