25-Year-Old Remanded by Court for Suspected Burglary

Yusuf Bello, a 25-year-old man, has been remanded in the Agodi correctional facility by a Chief Magistrate Court in Mapo, Ibadan.

The court took this action after Bello pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful house break, theft, and malicious damage to property.

Presiding Magistrate Mrs O.O. Latunji granted the defendant a bail of N250,000 with two sureties, but Bello was unable to meet the bail conditions and was subsequently remanded.

The trial has been adjourned until May 18.

According to Insp. Oluseye Akinola, the prosecutor, Bello committed the alleged theft on May 13 in the Orita-Aperin Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

He broke into Christ Church High School 1, Orita-Aperin, and stole 75 pieces of iron chairs and lockers valued at N500,000.

Additionally, he took iron doors worth N80,000, burglary windows worth N300,000, and caused damage to the school’s PVC roof.

The prosecutor stated that these actions are in violation of sections 412, 390 (9), and 41 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. iv Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
