25 alleged members of dangerous German far-right detained after preparing to attack the parliament
25 alleged members of a dangerous German far-right organisation were detained during searches and were preparing to attack the parliament.
The federal prosecutor’s office reported that during early-morning raids across Germany on Wednesday, 25 alleged members and supporters of a far-right terrorist organisation were apprehended.
According to the announcement from the administration, raids were carried out across 11 German federal states.
The agency stated that the suspects are members of a terrorist organization that does not rule out using violence against the government to topple the current state order in Germany and replace it with their own.
Prosecutors stated in a statement that members of the “Citizens of the Reich” (Reichsbuerger) movement are suspected of “having made real preparations to force their way into the German parliament with a small armed gang.”
According to the agency, suspects were detained not only in Austria and Italy but also in the German states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saxony, and Thuringia.
According to the office, the suspects are suspected of planning to carry out their ideological activities as early as the end of November 2021.
