Mohammed Moda, 22, of Burtu village in Jigawa State’s Ringim Local Government Area, was taken into custody by police officers after they allegedly threatened to kidnap two people.
This information was provided to Newsmen by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement that was made public on Wednesday.
Shiisu claims that on Tuesday, November 6, 2024, at around 1600 hours, Yakubu Bala of Larabar Zango Village in Ajingi LGA, Kano State, complained to the Ringim Police Station that he was being threatened by unknown individuals who demanded monetary payments of two million naira (N2,000,000.00) or risk having his wife kidnapped.
According to Shiisu, the suspects proceeded to supply a POS account for the transaction that was situated in Ringim town.
He continued by saying that N900,000.00 was deposited by the complainant.

Adam said, “Detectives from Ringim Division acted on credible intelligence and stormed the POS shop upon receipt of the report, arresting Mohammed Moda of Burtu village, Ringim, who came to withdraw the ransom.”
According to Shiisu, the suspect had seven hundred and ninety-two thousand naira (N792,000.00) on him when the police searched him.
Adam continued, “The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and named one Bashari Beto as his accomplice.”
He indicated that a court lawsuit will be filed and that the case is presently being investigated.
