22 villagers are killed by bandits in Katsina, and many more are injured
At Majifa village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, gunmen are said to have killed no less than twenty-two civilians.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident happened after the bandits attended a gathering for Mai Katifar Mutuwa, one of their well-known pals.
The inhabitants were forced to flee in all directions as the bandits barged into the town and began firing randomly.
He said that during the raid, 22 individuals died instantaneously and a large number of women and children were kidnapped by the bandits.

He also stated that several other locals had suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.
When reached by phone, SP Gambo Isah, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the occurrence and stated that the local vigilantes had been providing the robbers with fierce opposition.
Nevertheless, the State Police official said that fifteen persons were murdered and five more were hospitalised.
He said that at the time the event was reported, the police were still accumulating casualty numbers.
Isah also claimed that some of the bandits’ members had been slain on an equal basis, however the police were unable to provide an exact number because the killers had fled with the dead.
