President Bola Tinubu was resolved to fully incorporate the Southeast into the ruling party before to the general elections of 2027, according to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

The former governor of Kano State stated that the 2025 Anambra state governorship elections must be the first step towards accommodating the entire southeast zone, while speaking to party supporters at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He declared: “Let me tell you that President Tinubu has given his approval to the plan for the political emancipation, political demarcation, and political liberation of the South East.”

“The plan will enable you to bargain for the nation’s political leadership by making your voice heard more loudly and widely on the APC platform. That was impossible for you to accomplish because you were not united. For the party to be delivered to the state of Anambra, we need you to stand together. Imo has seen the beginning of the emancipation, and Anambra will follow in 2025.

The governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, urged the regional party leaders to refrain from polarising politics in his speech.

Addressing the Anambra state governorship race especially in 2025, the governor of Imo state warned the party’s supporters in the southeast state to put aside their divisions and move forward as a single, cohesive political family.

It gives me great pleasure to recognise the efforts and renewed energy in Anambra state about our party. Lately, it’s gotten quite incremental. In Anambra state, I would like to implore our party’s leaders and supporters to take a lesson from the past and use these two principles as their compass.

“First, have a common goal and learn to live with one other since anyone who has been bitten by a snake will always be terrified of a lizard’s head. It should be possible for us to grow from the past. One of the nation’s most vital and strategically located states, Anambra has produced notable individuals who have made history for this nation. I have never witnessed a tradition where the individual who consistently ranks first ought to be tallied last. We must get up and decide how we want our life to go.

All of you, my brothers and sisters, must put the past behind you, accept yourself, come together, and stand up for our people in the best interests of the nation. If that’s the case, I encourage you to return home and bring our people back, for there is nothing that God cannot accomplish. I do not want our political zone to disappear from the country. These days, the South East, which is supposed to be the political capital of Nigeria, is falling behind. It ought to be within our power to counsel, establish, and pursue our own goals. The quantity of men and women that I observed here gives me hope. “No one is left. To be our brothers and sisters’ keepers, we must be devoted, tolerant, forgiving, and loving towards one another.
