2027: Ohanaeze Youths Accuse Atiku of Excessive Desperation
Ohanaeze Youth Council criticizes Atiku Abubakar, claiming his actions ahead of the 2027 elections reflect undue desperation.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, a leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, strongly criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday. They accused him of showing an extreme level of desperation in his efforts to become Nigeria’s president.
The group was responding to a post made by Atiku on his social media account.
Attached with a photograph, he wrote: “Yesterday, the ‘Ohanaze Ndibo’ Youth Worldwide, under the leadership of their President Ogbonnia Wenceslans, visited me at my residence in Abuja for a courtesy call.”
In response to the development, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, criticized the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing him of seeking unofficial backing for an ambition that is doomed from the start.
In a statement released on Friday, Okwu expressed concern over the use of fake groups to gain support. He emphasized that “despite Atiku Abubakar’s strategies and those like him, power will remain in Southern Nigeria in 2027.”
He stated that “The photograph posted by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a grave insult to the sensibilities of Ndigbo.”
We are not concerned if he chooses to squander his money on untrustworthy individuals, but what we cannot tolerate is him involving the respected Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth in his desperate actions.

He might as well use any other name to describe his ‘fake guests’ instead of calling them Ohanaeze youths. This is simply desperation taken too far.
We must clearly convey to him, and anyone else with similar thoughts, that Nigeria does not solely belong to individuals like Atiku.
As an elder statesman, he should focus on promoting unity and equity in the country rather than becoming a champion of destabilization.
“It is both unjust and immoral for political power to shift back to the North in 2027, just four years after Muhammadu Buhari completed an eight-year term.”
He mentioned that in 2031, power will transition to the North. By then, we should all back a highly credible candidate, rather than those who fail to respect their own party’s zoning agreement.
In the meantime, Okwu has cautioned Nigerians to avoid engaging with unnamed groups claiming to represent Ohanaeze youth, as doing so could be harmful.
This group of beggars does not represent the Ohanaeze youth in any way.
Atiku Abubakar’s eagerness to become the Nigerian president led him to engage with impostors and beggars posing under the guise of Ohanaeze.
“Other Nigerians should avoid becoming victims of these merchants.”
