Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, has warned Northern leaders to abandon their plot to remove President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 presidential elections.
In an interview with Arise Television that Obasanjonews.com aired, Sani gave this warning, stating that such a move might undermine Nigeria’s unity.
Instead of attempting to increase their political influence, the public commentator advised Northern leaders to focus on the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration that will benefit the Northern region of Nigeria.
Recall that among other issues, Northern Nigeria has been struggling with poverty and insecurity.

“There is evidence that political forces from the North are gathering strength and trying to use the former president Buhari as a focal point to overthrow Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s government. Their goal is to restore Buhari’s political opportunity in the eyes of the people and paint the government as one that has been undermining the North and not keeping its campaign promises to the region, which is where it receives the majority of its votes. Furthermore, I have to caution you that trying to do that could seriously harm our nation.
“Buhari has been in office for eight years, and throughout that time no significant Southerner has challenged the government or attempted to unseat him.
Furthermore, we must remember that the nation as a whole should come first when considering power. We ought to be envisioning a calm, unified nation. Nigeria remains a precarious country.
“What would happen if politicians in the South similarly decided to band together and declare this to be their stance? Nigeria won’t exist.
Sani stated, “Therefore, they should sacrifice their personal ambition for at least 2027 in the interest of the country’s unity and future, and the North will have the moral right to ask for power after this administration’s second term.”
He emphasised how important it is for Northern leaders to deal with issues that affect their area.
Sani, on the other hand, directed Tinubu’s administration to carry out restructuring, noting that it will provide Nigerians with a systemic chance to confront the issues of underdevelopment.
