The Labour Party has strongly denied allegations from the NLC that its Chairman, Julius Abure, is working for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections. The party reaffirms its commitment to its core principles and independence.
The Labour Party (LP) has denied allegations made by the Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission (NLC-PC), which claimed that Julius Abure’s leadership of the party was promoting the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP, provided this clarification in Abuja on Friday.
He stated that following the recent court ruling affirming Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party, some individuals have attempted to suggest that the Labour Party is collaborating with the APC. They claim this alleged alliance is why LP has been successful in its legal battles.

Ifoh characterized these narratives as misleading, mischievous, and a deliberate attempt to distract, derail, and tarnish the reputation of the party leadership.
I must emphasize that the LP has been, and continues to be, more critical of APC than NLC. Let it be known that, in every aspect, the NLC has let down Nigerian workers.
Currently, Nigerian workers face oppression and an ineffective economy. Unfair practices against them are prevalent, yet only the current leadership of the party advocates for these oppressed individuals.
If any leadership of the party has been notably critical of the government since its inception, it is Abure’s leadership of the Labour Party.
“For the first time, Barrister Julius Abure’s leadership of the party has achieved remarkable accomplishments,” he stated.
