Patience Jonathan, the former First Lady of Nigeria, has announced that her husband, Goodluck Jonathan, will not be running for the presidency in the 2027 elections, putting to rest speculation about his potential candidacy.

Dame Patience Jonathan has revealed that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will not be running for president in the year 2027.

Jonathan, according to Patience, has already held the top position in Nigerian politics and does not aspire for any more political roles.

The ex-First Lady, while presiding over the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja, asserted that Jonathan had occupied a multitude of noteworthy political offices.

She confirmed that the ex-president was devoted to endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s governance.

Patience Jonathan stated, “My husband has already achieved the highest level of political power. What else is he striving for? We will not engage in it again.”

She urged the Igbo people to come together and prioritize common benefits instead of individual or partisan divergences.

She questioned, “Shouldn’t we prioritize our love for this country over ourselves? After all, if we do not cherish it, what will become of our children’s future?”
