2027: El-Rufai Dismisses Claims of Joining PDP
Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, denies rumors of his defection to the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections, affirming his loyalty to the APC.
Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has dismissed claims that he left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a close aide of the former governor, who spoke with Channels Television, the rumor is being spread by those intent on causing trouble. The aide emphasized that El-Rufai, as a well-known political figure, would not have switched to the PDP without announcing it publicly.
Responding to the rumor on his verified X account, previously known as Twitter, El-Rufai urged the public to dismiss any false claims regarding his political affiliation.
Please ignore the blatant falsehoods and rumors regarding my political affiliation. I have entrusted my lawyers to take appropriate action against those spreading this misinformation.
He also mentioned that he has passed the main culprits behind the false information to his lawyers for legal action.
“Kindly ignore the blatant falsehoods and rumors regarding my political affiliation. I have referred those spreading this misinformation to my lawyers for further action,” he wrote on Sunday.
