2027: Atiku, El-Rufai, and Opposition Leaders Form Coalition Against Tinubu

As the 2027 elections approach, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and other opposition leaders unite to challenge President Tinubu in a bid for political power.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, along with several key figures from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has teamed up with opposition leaders to establish a political coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
During a continuing press conference, several prominent political figures were in attendance. These included the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, represented by Yunusa Tanko; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal; and Nasir El-Rufai, ex-Governor of Kaduna State. Also present were Peter Ahmeh, National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), and Segun Showunmi, Convenor of The Alternative Movement.
Several prominent individuals, such as former governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, along with the ex-APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, extended their apologies for not being able to attend.
The formation of the coalition indicates a significant political shift, as it brings together opposition members and dissatisfied APC individuals in anticipation of the 2027 elections. The group’s agenda is poised to challenge Tinubu’s leadership while offering an alternative political vision for Nigeria.
