2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Relaxed Ahead of Bafana Bafana Match- Bassey
Despite their standing in Group C, Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has stated that the Super Eagles are not under any pressure to defeat South Africa.
Currently sitting in third place in the standings with two points from their first two games is Finidi George’s team.
To increase their prospects of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the West Africans will need to defeat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their matchday three match.
However, Bassey stated that the Super Eagles feel at ease before the game.

We don’t feel under pressure from our third-place standing on the table because we haven’t dropped a game and everyone seems to be aware of our current level of play. At the AFCON, everyone had doubts about us, but we managed to advance to the championship game, Bassey said to the Super Eagles press.
“I don’t think we’ve demonstrated our abilities; there are still games left to play. Our team has been working together for two years, and we are creating something. Furthermore, people seem to overlook that, despite our expertise as players, our squad is still young. We are still young, so it’s simply a matter of working hard, making sure we have the crucial opportunities during the game, taking our chances, and, with luck, winning three points. Obviously, we have some experience.
