Marvellous Nakamba, the captain of Zimbabwe, claimed that his country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria didn’t give them what they deserved.
The Super Eagles and the Warriors drew 1-1 on Sunday at Butare.
Walter Musona gave Baltemar Brito’s team the lead in the first half. However, after missing several opportunities to end the match, Kelechi Iheanacho, a replacement, gave the visitors a point back.

Nakamba asserted that they were the superior team in the match.
In a brief video that was uploaded on the Zimbabwe Football Association’s official X handle, the 29-year-old said, “We tried our best as a team; we had so many chances to finish the game, but we couldn’t convert them.”
“All we need to do is persevere and have faith in ourselves. We are eager for the upcoming game. Our fans have been really supportive.
The qualifying matchup between Zimbabwe and Lesotho is scheduled for June 2024.
