2024 FCT Supplementary Budget Passes Second Reading in Senate
The N98.5 billion 2024 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Supplementary Budget has been approved by the Senate for a second reading.
This came after APC-Kwara representative Lola Ashiru, the deputy leader of the Senate, presented the budget estimates during Thursday’s plenary in Abuja.
Due to a lack of information in the document that was sent to the members, the Senate decided to suspend its discussion of the budget on June 5.
Following the budget’s specifics being presented, Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin, APC-Kano, pleaded with his colleagues to enable the bill to advance to a second reading.

Jibrin stated that prior to the budget being stood down, the MPs had discussed it.
The budget was subsequently read a second time after Barau’s submission.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, then forwarded the budget to the Committee on FCT, requesting additional legislative input and a report in two weeks.
