Governor David Umahi has warned against the senseless killing of unarmed civilians in Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State, by thugs who are said to be linked to the state’s opposition parties.

This was stated by Umahi while addressing APC supporters at the APC Local Government Rally in Isu, the centre of the Onicha Local Government Area.

“This is humiliating,” said Umahi, referring to the boy’s local government. He claims to be running for the PDP in Ebonyi State. Since we are in command of Ebonyi State, I’m warning all the parties, including the PDP, not to deposit money there.

“The atrocities here must stop; just because you’re competing for something doesn’t mean you have to kill your brothers and sisters,” he said, adding that those who commit these killings will receive general curses.

In a similar move, Governor Umahi abolished the ban on traditional rulers being installed in Ebonyi communities without one.

However, he gave Donatus Njoku, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters, and Rural Development, instructions to start making arrangements to guarantee that operations in the state ran smoothly.

If elected as a senator in the February National Assembly election, Umahi promised the locals that he would work hard to see that the Federal College of Education in Isu was upgraded to a university.

In response, Francis Nwifuru, the APC’s candidate for governor, promised to give the Onicha people pride of place if elected governor on March 11 in the state.
