Sa’idu Gumburawa, the Peoples Redemption Party’s (PRP) governorship candidate in Sokoto state, led the party’s leadership in joining the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bashar Abubakar, the special assistant to Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC Sokoto-North), the state’s top APC official, told reporters about this event on Saturday.
All of the PRP candidates, state executives, and representatives from the state and local governments are included among the new APC members, according to Abubakar.
“Among them are the party’s three senatorial candidates from Sokoto’s North, East, and South Districts, respectively: Garzali Abdullahi, Bello Holai, and Shehu Ibrahim.
Thirty members of the State House of Assembly and the 11 candidates for the House of Representatives are also engaged, he added.
Abubakar continued by saying that the APC leaders in the state met with the PRP leaders and their supporters on Friday in Sokoto.
Wamakko was reported by Abubakar as adding that the accomplishment was one of the APC’s biggest achievements before the state’s general elections in 2023.
The legislator welcomed the new members and praised them for making the prudent decision to join the APC fight to ensure the emergence of the proper leadership at the appropriate moment.
“I am overjoyed to welcome Gumburawa, a friend and coworker in development, who is coming home to join us in our commitment to the development of Sokoto state.
To ensure our combined victory in the general elections of 2023, he stated, “Today, I want to promise you that APC and all its members will continue to work closely with you and your supporters.”
Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, a contender for the Sokoto APC governorship, also spoke and greeted the new members while assuring them of their equality with all other party members.
“In the APC, we are one family; we support and protect one another and work closely with one another to achieve our aim of defending our state and all of Nigeria,” he stated.
If granted the chance to lead the state, Aliyu also promised to assure the supply of high-quality healthcare, education, commerce and investment, agriculture, the welfare of government officials, and other developmental issues.
Gumburawa had earlier said that the reason for their decision to join the APC was to do their share to ensure the party’s triumph in the general elections in 2023.
We took into account the predicament the state’s residents were in while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in power.
As a result, he added, “our choice to join the APC was driven by our desire to see the state regain its former grandeur, much as it did under the previous governor, Aliyu Wamakko.”
In a similar event, the APC leader had also met with Bello Yarima, Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s Special Advisor on the state’s paramilitary Sokoto Marshal Agency.
Alhaji Umaru Chori, another PDP participant from Tambuwal LGA’s Sanyinna town, joined the party as well.
Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, and Senators Ibrahim Gobir and Danbaba Dambuwa, who represent Sokoto’s East and South, respectively, attended the celebrations at Wamakko’s mansion in Sokoto.
