Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, told Uche Secondus, the former national PDP chairman, that he is no longer a member of the party.
Wike says that this means the former party chair can’t talk about things involving the main opposition party.
He also said that a former military leader had publicly flogged Secondus for what he said were wrongdoings.
Wike was addressing Secondus’ assertion that the governor lacks the authority to impose a presidential candidate on the voters of Rivers.
This came after the governor earlier in the week promised to tell the people of Rivers by January 1 who they will vote for in the 2023 presidential election.
Because Secondus had been expelled from the opposition party by his Andoni ward, Wike referred to him as an intrusive, meddlesome foreigner.
The governor gave a speech at the Aluu-Omagwa Link Road’s Saturday opening ceremony at Omuagubia Playground.
This morning, I read in the press that Uche Secondus, a former member of our party, claimed that no one individual could force a presidential candidate on the people of Rivers.
He does not belong to our party. His ward expelled him from the celebration.
“Up to this point, you have not been a part of our celebration.”
Wike says that the former party head was told that he would not be in charge of the party primaries for the 2023 elections.
However, the governor claimed he never said he would force a candidate on them and that he would only reveal his choice of presidential candidate when the time was appropriate.
“But don’t blame them; you won’t understand the grammar if you didn’t finish secondary school,” he went on.
