“2023: PDP confused, fearful of its own shadows,” says Tinubu
Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), told Nigerians to ignore the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling it a “confused” party.
In a statement released Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Tinubu criticised the PDP for its latest press release about the general elections of 2023.
The PDP said that the Federal Government wanted to delay the elections, but the APC said that the PDP just didn’t want to be in its shadow.
The complete text of the assertion is:
“The muddled news release issued today by the directionless and very perplexed People’s Democratic Party has caught our attention. We can only feel sympathy for a party that has devolved into a complete disaster and a source of shame for its discouraged members.
As its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, withdrew from the campaign trail six weeks before a general election, the PDP has resorted to making reckless claims in order to fill media space.
The latest lie is that INEC and the Federal Government want to cancel the elections in 2018.
Nigerians are asked to ignore this ridiculous claim from the PDP, which has no basis in fact.
In February and March of this year, elections will happen as planned because the electoral umpire has made it clear that it is ready to run the elections.
Since 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari has provided this nation with the most credible regular and off-season elections. He has told Nigerians over and over that the elections in 2023 will happen, even just two days ago.
In a similar vein, Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has reaffirmed President Buhari’s claim that the Federal Government has no intention of postponing elections.
The PDP has no other profitable things to do besides raise false alarms, make outright lies, and spread rumours to mislead the public, because it knows it doesn’t have a plan to win and its presidential candidate isn’t there to sell Nigerians on a real development plan.
The PDP should be aware that Nigerians have rejected it, and no amount of deceit can save a political party that ruined our economy under its watch, produced significant levels of insecurity, and embezzled funds intended for development.
According to the party’s presidential candidate, no lessons from the disgraceful past have been learned because he has vowed to sell the assets of NNPC Limited for just $10 billion, just as he did when he sold important national assets for pennies when in charge of them.
As a party and presidential campaign council, we are concentrating on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima’s message of rekindled optimism.
We’ll also keep telling Nigerians about the successes of President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC-led federal government in a variety of areas, such as the development of our country’s infrastructure, the agricultural revolution, and food security, as well as the rebuilding of our armed forces with cutting-edge equipment and reforms in the oil and gas sector, among other things.
