2023: According to INEC, Oyo State still has to collect over 800,000 PVCs.
According to information provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), around 800,000 permanent voter cards (PVC) have yet to be collected in Oyo State.
On Wednesday, INEC disclosed this information.
Dr. Adeniran Tella, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), stated that the PVCs are still in their various offices for collection while speaking at a stakeholder meeting on the Mock Voters Accreditation and Verification Exercise.
Heads of the state’s various security agencies attended the meeting, which was held at the INEC office in Ibadan.
The commission has distributed more than 402,321 PVCs across the state, according to Tella, who was speaking.
Later, he bemoaned the fact that more than 800,000 PVCs still needed to be collected.
However, Tella advised residents of the state to obtain PVCs before they expired as she continued to speak.
In addition, he stressed the importance of the exercise for the commission’s planning for the state’s impending general elections and urged registered voters in the impacted polling units to show up on the designated date with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) for the exercise.
He further stated that the impacted local government areas and polling units in the states have set the exercise for Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tella continued by pointing out that the exercise will help reassure residents of the state about the reliability of the INEC system and strengthen the electoral system in advance of the state’s general elections.

The purpose of the mock exercise is to conduct field tests employing 12 polling units in the state’s Oyo North, Oyo South, and Oyo Central Districts throughout the three senatorial districts.
The Commission will employ BVAS for voter accreditation and verification and will upload polling unit results through the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) on election day in order to conduct the upcoming elections.
