Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC presidential)’s candidate, has provided arguments for why Nigerians should support him in the 2023 election.
In an exclusive interview for “Focus on Africa” with BBC Africa Reporter Peter Okwoche, Tinubu also talked about his top objectives and the source of his riches.
Nigerians have been governed by the Buhari administration for almost eight years, said Okwoche. Some people claim that these eight years have been excruciating and difficult. You know, you belong to the same political party, thus you share the same point of view as President Muhammadu Buhari. Nearly eight years ago, you supported his election to office. What will you change, exactly? Why ought Nigerians to support you?
Tinubu responded, “Because I am unique. Bola Ahmed Tinubu here. I was Lagos’ mayor. I’ve created a contemporary state that could stand alone as a nation, he claimed.
“I’ve led an administration that has been so cautious, growing internally produced revenue from 600 million to 5 billion per month. That is a milestone. No one else can take pride in that.
“In Nigeria, I’ve treated and subdued the Atlantic Ocean surge that would have killed a lot of people in Lagos.
Lagos’ infrastructure has undergone good renewal. I’m consistent in Lagos.”
