Babachir Lawal, the former SGF of the Federal Government of Nigeria, has endorsed Atiku Abubakar as the PDP’s presidential candidate in the upcoming election in February.
All Progressives Congress (APC) member Lawal outlined why he would vote for Atiku rather than the same-faith ticket.
The former SGF emphasized in a BBC interview that the same-faith ticket will prevent the APC from winning the 2023 presidential election.
Lawal emphasized that while he and his supporters are APC members, they will not support Tinubu’s campaign for president.
Additionally, the former SGF said that the Labour Party, LP, sought to persuade him and his supporters to join the party.
Lawal stated, “At this time, I am not for Bola Tinubu. A Muslim-Muslim ticket is something I oppose. Bola was the one who decided against travelling with us; he made his travel plans, and we warned him that we would not support him if he ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket. PDP talked with us and promised to comply with our requests provided we committed to supporting them. You can understand the difficulty we have finding employment if we claim to be Christians.
