Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles has been congratulated by President Bola Tinubu on earning the CAF 2023 Men’s Player of the Year title.
The President also praised the outstanding accomplishments of Chiamaka Nnadozie, who won Woman Keeper of the Year, and Asisat Oshoala of the Nigerian Super Falcons, who won the Women’s National Team of the Year award for the sixth time in 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year.

This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity.
Tinubu praised the three players—Osimhen, Oshoala, and Nnadozie—for their exceptional accomplishments both domestically and abroad, for inspiring aspirants to play football around the continent, and for being sources of national pride.
Observing the magnificent representatives of Nigeria ascend the stage as the African Footballers of the Year, both in the men’s and women’s divisions, on Monday evening in Marrakesh, Morocco, has reinforced our conviction that everything this country requires for greatness is within and at our disposal, provided we work hard, persevere, and have God’s assistance.
“I applaud Victor and Asisat for remembering their humble beginnings in the game they love so much and for recognising the influence of indigenous instructors on their professional development.
“With all Nigerian supporters, I pray that this well-earned honour will mark the beginning of an ongoing journey full of success, victories, and the realisation of all your footballing dreams,” the President remarked.
Osimhen was named the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year on Monday, according to Obasanjo News24.
